This is an exquisite hand-carved wooden Goddess Quan Yin Buddha statue. This sculpture depicts a meditating Goddess Quan Yin Buddha, standing on top of lotus leaves while holding a small vase that contains the water of life. Her right hand is position to a mudra chant. Goddess Quan Yin is also commonly known as the Goddess of Mercy, is a bodhisattva, one who is qualified to enter nirvana, but chose to remain on earth to bring all to enlightenment. She is the embodiment of compassionate loving kindness. As the Bodhisattva of Compassion, She hears the cries of all beings. Statues of her stand in many Buddhist temples, and a woman who wants a child may pray to her.
Goddess Quan Yin's facial expression says it all - calmingly gentle, peaceful and tranquil. It's believed that by placing a Quan Yin artifact will bless you with much joy, happiness and peace.
